Our Story...

History

The New Jersey Table Tennis Club (NJTTC) carries a proud legacy as a nonprofit organization with a history spanning over a century. Founded at a time when it was the only table tennis club in the region, NJTTC helped lay the very foundation for the sport’s growth in New Jersey and beyond. It not only nurtured generations of United States national champions and Olympic athletes but also proudly started and hosted the tradition of the annual New Jersey State Championships—an event it has supported for nearly a century.

When the founding members retired, instead of letting this remarkable legacy come to an end, a new chapter began. Today, NJTTC lives on with renewed energy and vision under the leadership of Coach Jack Gao—a former professional table tennis athlete and a world-class coach who has devoted more than 20 years to sharing the joy, discipline, and spirit of table tennis around the world. Originally rooted in Westfield, NJ, the club relocated to Springfield, NJ in 2019. Through the hardships of the pandemic and beyond, Coach Gao’s unwavering passion and commitment ensured that the club not only survived but flourished.

Now, NJTTC continues to thrive as a vibrant, welcoming community where players of all ages and levels come together to train, compete, and celebrate the sport. It proudly hosts tournaments and leagues throughout the year, including the annual New Jersey State Championships, honoring the tradition it helped establish.
